My d has not received anything yet.
I sent an email to girls who code, and they emailed me back saying theyre sending welcome packets at the end of the week. good luck guys
I just got the welcome packet!
OK so what do I do now? I got welcome package, but I also got into this great research program. If I do research I cannot do anything else this summer. If I do GWC, I can also do this 3 days engineering seminar I applied to and also volunteer for one sporting event. The GWC is free. I have to pay about 3K for the research program. But the research program is highly selective. In the top 3 in the country. What should I do?
@Dinka7 what do you plan to do in the future? And do you have any coding experience? I would go for research just because coding is something you can learn on your own
@swiftyfan13x I took APCS last year. I plan to go to engineering school. Probably EECS. I am also waiting on WTP program at MIT, but I will probably not get in, since I took APCS already so they will not consider me for CS (60 girls) and only for ME (20 girls). I really want to do research this summer, but I also wanted to volunteer for this sporting event.
Those who have received the welcome packet – it this via email or snail mail? I want to know which mailbox to watch.

@Dinka7 I just feel that girls who code repeats a lot of apcs and a research program would be more prestigious
@Dinka7 I think both are very useful & helpful in their own way. Did you get into a level 2 GWC program? Because if so, the curriculum is actually VERY different from APCS (I took it last year too). If you’re into tech stuff like video games, robotics, and apps - I’d go with GWC level 2 (If you were put in a level 1 course, then it might be a lot of repeat things and I would probably go with the research). And if you want research experience & money isn’t a problem, then do the science research.
I have girls who code boston and stanford summer college. Which one is better? And which one will I learn more at
Generally, the free summer programs have many applicants and are therefore more selective than those programs that accept nearly everyone who can afford to attend. I would nto worry too much about what appears more selective and prestigious- which program will do more to help you reach your own personal goals?
does anyone know if the conference calls are one on one or will there be multiple people attending the same call
You have to dial a conference a call and they have a powerpoint for you to follow the call with.
After the call, did anyone receive any emails from GWC? Is the next check in just going to be each location’s open house?
I made thread for everyone attending Girls Who Code 2015, you should all check it out!
