Girls Who Code 2020

@randomdancing That’s so cool! How was the program? What is this final project I’ve been hearing of?

I loved it and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who isn’t sure about applying! The final project is in the last two weeks of the program where you brainstorm ideas for either an app or website and then get put into small groups and code it!

Can you talk about a typical day in your life with this program? Also if I love an hour away how does transport work out?

We’d spend the first twenty minutes doing some sort of game every day, then the next few hours working on a lesson, then lunch, then using the lesson to code a project, then we’d end the day with around twenty minutes of games again. Friday’s would be more lax and we’d watch movies relating to the lesson for the week, like for our robotics unit we watched iron man?.
For transportation I don’t think any company offers transportation for GWC but If you get the summer stipend you can get up to $1000 I think for transportation expenses.

Did anyone else get accepted?

I just got the email!!! I’m in!!!

Anyone here going to the Charlotte location with me?

I got in too! I got in for the NY location

@koyuji Congrats!!!

You too!!

Waitlisted for the Bay Area. But congrats to those who were accepted!

@TheRose21 I was waitlisted for bay area too, do you know how likely it is to get off waitlist?

The bay area seems really competitive. Anyway, I heard that a lot of people get off the waitlist so don’t lose hope.

Ayyy! Got in for the Chicago location!

I got in at the Boston location! Anyone else so we can become friends in advance lol?

I applied and got into the Charlotte location! Lmk if you do and we can do some pre program networking haha

@aannaa hey i’m going to charlotte too!!!

Aww got into North Clark Location!

@randomdancing I was wondering how in-depth the sessions are for each programming language? I was thinking of also doing a summer online python course, but will a week be enough to learn python?
