Give me a nickname

So my name is Eboni (pronounced Eh-bone-ee). I want to go by another name in college (don't ask why). Anyway, would it be weird if I just choose a name to go by? Does it have to be a play on your middle or first name?

I want a nickname that is unique and fun. Any suggestions?

Here is a little about me,
I like all genres of music, from Eminem to Taylor Swift and from Carrie Underwood to Skrillex to the Ragtime Original Broadway Cast
I'm a theatre/newspaper geek
I want to major in Broadcast Journalism and Cinematic Arts
I tend to think differently, people usually describe me as smart but really weird.
I like to joke around and am overly sarcastic
I love documentaries and have a slight obsession with the Office
I like to explore and frequently catch myself walking around a large city by myself all in the name of seeing the people, the history, and the city's culture (a little reckless, I know)
Im a southern girl who is a Californian at heart (more like country music and cowboy boots meets sandy beaches and music festivals)
Overall I would say I'm pretty quirky

A nickname I like is "Journey" but I'd love to see what you come up with

I kind of like the nickname Ebby. It’s a bit like Abby, and people probably will remember it.

However, you could choose something that has nothing to do with your first or middle name. I met one girl who had a foreign first name that was very long and difficult to pronounce. She went by the nickname “Shelly” simply because she liked it and thought it fit her.

I only say this because of the way you phrased the sentence (i.e. didn’t make this two separate thoughts)

You know the office is not a real documentary, right?

How about Emmy? It’s cute, pretty, can be emo and cool  It’s fairly close to your real name, and no one would guess your real name unless you choose. If you really want something new and fresh yet in line with your personality, maybe Destiny or Harmony. Other names might be Amber or Naomi (Naomi because it has many of the letters in your real name, and Amber just seemed to go with your personality for some reason.)

I’m thinking of going by my middle name in college myself :)

Jaunt. Quirkier than Journey. Get’s in the notion of exploring. Also, it is a play on eboni…ebony…black…jet. Jet was my original thought. Not only that…it can digress into Jaunty too which fits.
