Co-Op Program — UB Engineering Work Experience

Buffalo doesn't seem to be a very co-op oriented school, and I didn't even know they had a co-op program until I sifted through their website quite a bit.

However, something seems off on how the co=op program works compared to other schools' programs I've seen but I can't seem to put my finger on it. I know Buffalo attracts a good selection of employers, but this co-op program seems odd.

Almost seems like it's just a program that allows you to get 2 credits if you manage to find yourself employment (hooray), but the school isn't really involved in the process like other schools.

Opinions?

I followed your link and found a 10-page manual in pdf format that you should read.

I have seen programs like this at other unis, and I have also seen programs that are more time-intensive and thus require 5 years to get through undergrad school. In such cases, there is a school - work - school - work-work school format, at a school that uses the quarter system.

Bottom line, it looks legit to me, and IMHO, employers like to hire people that have shown an ability to work in the field, or a related field. My D for example, co-oped as a Mat-Sci Eng, while studying Chem E, and then interned and was hired as a Chem e.
