Here is the info

EC: Involved in a myriad of clubs and head of 2 clubs (one of which I founded). I ski, horseback ride and participate in theatre.
College essay: wrote about being diagnosed w/ mild Asperger's Syndrome and eventually rejecting the diagnosis as a cage; college counselor said it was among the best college essays she'd read
Most likely major: Linguistics and Classics

Here's the kicker. My gPA: 3.4 weighted. Pretty low, I know. The reason? Long story: I have had five years of high school, several years of which were severely adversely affected by severe depression.

First year, I had severe depression, missed several months of school, and had a 2.8 as a result.

Second year, I went to a boarding special ed school with no APs/honors/extracurriculars (I mean this, btw; there were NO extracurriculars offered, and given that I was a boarding student, I had no opportunities to seek them out elsewhere). Only "effort" grades and no traditional grades were given. My current school has chosen to disregard this year completely because no one can make heads or tails out of the grading system.

Third year, I switched to another boarding special ed school that was very academically weak and offered no honors/AP/extracurriculars (same situation as the previous one). Traditional grading system, however--I had a 3.5 here.

Fourth year, I transferred into my current school (private, all-girls) and repeated my junior year. I took the honors classes available to me and had about a 3.7 weighted. No APs. My school has a policy of not allowing new students to take APs (space is VERY limited for APs, so they go with students whose academic abilities they are familiar with).

Fifth year, again taking all the honors courses available. As full a courseload as there are blocks in the day. 2 APs. 4.1 weighted GPA. I'm easily among the top few students in my class.

That's general gist of it. It's a bigger story than that and in full detail excuses away a lot more of my low GPA/extracurricular situation/etc, but it's kind of tedious to type out the rest.

Anyway. I've been accepted into three colleges so far: Santa Clara (safety), University of Delaware (safety, 7k annual merit scholarship, Honors College. Out-of-stater), and American University (20k annual merit scholarship, Honors College). I'm waiting to hear back from: Wake Forest, Johns Hopkins, College of William & Mary, Claremont McKenna, Pomona, and Pitzer. I'm aware these are substantially harder than the ones I've already applied to, as well as considerable reaches for several of them (ahahaha Pomona :'(). But given my successes at the other three, what are my probable shots at the others? I'm hoping that colleges will see the fact that I've really struggled with mental illness and managed to come okay in the end regardless as a boon, but :P
