Glaring Mistake on "Why this College?" essay.

Atomom - I agree that errors are easier to spot in print than on line.

My daughter made a serious error in describing her current courses on her online application to one school, that was only discovered after she had hit the "submit" button and was then able to print out a PDF of the application. She had inadvertantly written that she was taking "European history" when she is taking "European lit". I advised her to immediately send an email noting the error and correction ... so I assume all will be ok. But it really brought home to me how easy it is to make a mistake.

I wouldn't worry about minor spelling errors, like compliment for complement, however - as long as there aren't too many. I think that the essays are read very quickly by overworked and overstressed ad com members -- they are highly unlikely to notice minor errors.

umm.. gosh.. I probably made tons of errors. I think I wrote in my current courses that I was taking a painting and not drawing class, but hopefully they won't notice at all. I mean, come on, it's an elective. I almost wrote my own sex as male and wrote "apt" as "atp". Thankfully, I spotted most of this stuff before submitting.

For a while, I obsessed over 1 or 2 commas, until my boyfriend told me to snap out of it and just submit.

Wharton School of BUNNIES made me laugh so hard I almost fell out of my chair.

heh, i know that in one of my recs (last year for a junior yr. scholarship), i was referred to as a "she"... I hope she didn't make the same mistake this year.
