The Colby application asks whether the applicant would be interested in Global Entry Semester. Can checking the box make the difference between being admitted and not being admitted (especially for a student that may be on the cusp w/respect to grades and stats)? Or are admitted students sometimes given a choice of either regular admission or the GES program?
I would confirm with admissions but I don’t think you would be offered GES without checking that box. I would guess (but don’t know) that this would increase your chances of being admitted. More upperclassmen do spring semester abroad so this is an important way of managing housing.
I know one kid who did it and thought it was great. But you have to want an immersive language experience in one of those 2 languages. …
My daughter was admitted and did the GES (France - other group was in Spain). I don’t think it makes a difference in terms of admissions and GES is not to set because of a lack of housing. Colby is great.
I am wondering how your daughter felt starting in January having been abroad for her freshman fall?
Did you ever get feedback about the Global Entry Program? I too am interested.
