some people have said that after calling people involved with assigning housing at northeastern, they have been told that oncoming freshmen who have selected global frontiers as their #1 LLC of choice "typically" get housed in international village... is there any validity to this statement?

i'm excited about this because i paid my deposits in february and global frontiers was my first LLC and the dorms at IV are beautiful! although, if it's not true, i wouldn't have any problem being assigned to any other dorm.

also, quick question, does anyone know when we find out our room information? i already selected a roommate and requested him so does that mean i could receive it earlier?

They are mailing things in mid-June regardless of whether you picked random or not. Plus from what I’ve heard, the location depends on the amount of people selecting each LLC.

So far the ONLY freshmen living in IV have been honors. So if they’ve changed that this year, no one is going to be able to confirm or deny it- because it’s a brand new change.

The global frontiers LLC has been in IV the last 2 years. As a freshman, I was housed there (I am an honors student, but living in the honors LLC was not mandatory then and I was allowed to choose g.f. instead). My friend, who is a year younger than me, was assigned to IV in the global frontiers LLC this year (he is not an honors student).

At tour guide training, I was told that the only freshman in IV are honors, but that hasn’t been the case. I think they just really don’t want people to know that other LLCs are placed there because they don’t want people to select the LLC simply bc it’s in IV.

So it’s not definite that global frontiers is there this year. It just has been in the past.

Seriously?? Yeah, I got it from tours and being an honors mentor… That’s really weird. Maybe they don’t tell people cause they don’t want them to pick that LLC just because its in IV… which I just saw you said already. So yeah, I agree with you haha.

What does it mean “it is in IV” and why is that important? Why is Global so wonderful? Are they each so different? How is media and how is business LLC?

International Village, a new dorm with special features not typical of the norm. You have a roommate, but your rooms are separated by a connecting, private bathroom for the two of you. Includes one sink and one shower as well.

bgwhite, are all rooms in IV essentially private (one bed) and separated by a bathroom or is that true only of “semi private rooms”.

How is the Freshmen social life in IV if you’re in the global frontiers LLC. Saw one person mention that it’s difficult to meet other freshmen because most are across campus.

the east and west towers are basically all single rooms connected by a bathroom to another single room. hc rooms are the exceptions. the north tower (where most of honors freshmen are housed) has about 6 singles per floor, however some of those singles are RA rooms. the rest of the rooms in north are doubles. all of the rooms (except hc) are considered semi private because they are connected to the room next to it by the bathroom.

so, your chances of getting a single are much greater in IV than in most other halls for freshmen, but that doesn’t mean those chances are good.
