turned down Boston College. USC, UCB,UCSB,UCD
it was a hard decision for me. I visited Boston and it looked great.
No scholarship $$ offered

but actually.. I found out that many people go to UCLA because they are rejected by Cal.

^^ BS...I know many students who dumped Cal for UCLA.....and from HS many people got rejected by UCLA and went to Cal...

Cal - hobos, dreary, ugly chicks
UCLA - sunny socal, hot chicks

I have UCB, but most probably will chose UCLA as a Pol S major

Cal - hobos, dreary, ugly chicks, but still #1
UCLA - sunny socal, hot chicks, will never be #1

^^ picking college on ranking alone? lol

I didn't say pick a college based solely on ranking.

Who said berkeley was #1, not all rankings are the same, and you can rank berkeley #1 for different things, and UCLA #1 for other things as well. In fact, when everything is taken into account to make a well rounded school, UCLA was actually above Berkeley.

well.. actually i really want to know.. If i'm majoring in econ, berkeley or UCLA is better?

because i just know cal is good for haas, but i'm not so sure about economics. it appears to me that econ is really a very impacted major in UCLA but not that impacted in Cal.

Berkeley is ranked higher in Econ for grad school, I don't know if that'll help, but I doubt you'd be able to find rankings for undergrad econ.

i know a lot of people say don't pick college on ranking, but when you apply to grad school they will give more weight to a better reputed school. I think UCLA and UCB should be the same but then again a lot of people say Cal is tough and the adcoms at grad would know that, so i believe chosing based on ranking isn't all that stupid, i am gonna be a pre med so the main goal for me is med school and i would base my decision on ranking because that might improve my grad school chances.

Blah, blah, blah. When the Most Well Rounded rankings come out let me know.

Lovely, if you somehow think it will be easier to get into Econ @ Berk because it's not "impacted" you are sorely mistaken. We call Econ here at Cal "capped" which is akin to UCLA's "impacted".

I know one guy who is picking UCSD because he thinks it will be easier than UCLA...on rankings it depends....yea University of Kentucky and Cal...difference in Grad school...UCLA and Cal...not really, here other stuff will count...Im sure a grad admission officer has heard of Cal and UCLA...

whoa don't gang up on me, i am a bruin too..........,

its just that i have noticed in CC that how people in UCLA threads try to keep on proving that it is better than Cal and its getting better in rankings and all, go to Cal's thread and they live in the shadow of Stanford. tufts syndrome is plaguing every single university, that is not ranked first, so that was just my idea and i didn not mean necesarily the UCLA/Cal difference, but difference between an upper rank university and a lower rank one.

"but actually.. I found out that many people go to UCLA because they are rejected by Cal."

No... there's a actually a group on facebook called "Berkeley Rejectors -We got into Berkeley, but chose UCLA"

Anyway.. I've been pro UCLA ever since I first visited UCLA in elementary schoo... then I visited Cal's campus back in sophomore year of HS and it confirmed my Pro-UCLA-ness hahahaha.

Oh and BTW... I'm going to UCLA too =)
