Obama wins in IOWA!!!!

hooray for the underdog. watta stud.

He wasn't an underdog, and he won't win it.

I thought this thread said "Go Osama!!!!!"

I think it's so funny that CNN is almost only talking about Huckabee's victory. It's like they're tying to forget the fact that Hillary lost.

imho, Huckabee was more of a surprise than Obama. Just months ago he was battling for sixth in pre-Iowa polls. And now, well...there you have it.

But Edwards! Edging out Hillary for second! And the media's been trying to play it off like a two-person battle... I was quite psyched.

Seriously! Where the hell did Edwards come from? But, does anybody really like Huckabee? (Obviously, I guess)

The title of this thread should read:

"GO HUCKABEE!!!!!!!!!!!!"

=)
I actually jumped and squealed in joy in front of my computer when I saw the news in the screen.

i'm not a huckabee fan. He'll get smashed by the democrats if he's representing the republicans... and if hillary wins the dems, then it could be really bad.

^ Agreed.

All Fox News would talk about was how 'historic' Obama's victory was in the history of America - no matter who wins the election, they said, Obama has just earned his name in the history books, because this is the first time a black man has ever had such a strong polling in Iowa, which is a 90-95% white state. And Obama, suprisingly, lost the minority vote in Iowa according to exit polls, so he must have really scored it in with the white voters.

With this, and with Hillary completing losing in Iowa even to John Edwards, Obama is likely to see a 10-point gain in the polls next week. Cya Clinton, your husband was nice (I met him) but someone else is going to take the oval office.

I think we all know who our next Mr. President shall be.

I think Huckabee's kind of a crazy-head. He's said all sorts of strange, backwards stuff about religion, he's almost Nixon-like in his campaigning strategies, and remember that whole thing w/ him and his wife asking people to buy them stuff at Target or wherever?

Obama and hillary smell bad. That's going to be my basis for all judgments concerning them :D

^^

This is why we have bush as a president.

Kerry smelled bad too? I didn't know :(

Personally, I'm a Clinton fan, and although the whole Mr. President bit sounded a little mean, congrats goes to Obama for being such a strong candidate and really having a great campaign in Iowa.

i am happy obama won, even though i don't like him, my only concern is that hillary won't win. Obama is not gonna win. For god sake he is as old as my parents! (obama is a lil older) No way my parents generation ready to control the most powerful country in the world. No thoedore roosevelt could do it and thats cos he was the best.

Ron Paul!!!

^^^^^^^^^^^^yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ron paul is too crazy. i like a lot of his ideas, but president? ...i don't want him.
I would like for somebody to make him their advisor whenever they become president.
*stupid grammar, how i hate you. i'm too lazy to fix it....

Ron Paul is too out there...too on the fringes/non-mainstream to accomplish anything as president.

Honestly, the caucuses surprised me in a good way. My preferred candidates showed well.

On the Democratic side, I thought Hilary would win, but I'd rather Obama won. When Obama blew both Hilary and populist Edwards out of the water, I was elated. I find his political beliefs to be nearly identical to Hilary, but he has far more character. He's definitely something fresh and new and I think he comes across as very intelligent and charismatic. Edwards...I disagree w/ almost all of his opinions.

On the GOP side (which I lean towards overall), I'm pulling for Rudy. However, I realized he had no shot at Iowa and so I had my fingers crossed for Huckabee to beat Romney...and he did! Romney is a total phony in my opinion. Huckabee has said some questionable things and is clearly one-dimensional in that he appeals to the Christian right...his political views are not strong enough to attract those who don't choose their candidate on religious/character/moral grounds. However, I find him WAY more honest and honorable than Romney.

The GOP election is SO wide-open and is indicative of the Republican party's lack of identity right now, as evidenced by the fact that whoever takes the lead loses it:
-At the beginning of this campaign, Romney was the favorite, with a reputation for being a man of action. Now, he's known as a "say one thing, do another" guy...a typical politician
-Giuliani took the lead next and then "blew it" by not paying attention to Iowa and New Hampshire and by apparently overplaying 9/11 and being too socially liberal for the GOP voters
-Now, Huckabee's emerged, but he won't last long. He won't win NH, McCain will. McCain doesn't have enough support elsewhere to hold any sort of lead.

I have no idea who will win, but whoever it is, he won't be overwhelmingly popular.

One last note: what's up with Giuliani and Fred Thompson? Neither does anything in Iowa, yet Rudy gets 4% and Fred gets 13%? I don't see his appeal...maybe a lot of Iowa residents watch Law & Order.

What if the democratic party decided to "Play it safe" this election and just continue the WASP-y legacy with John Edwards. (As they can choose whoever they want right?)

I think I would probably vote for the republicans out of spite

oh snap, i'm a senior member now.
