I live in California and am considering applying to the University of Rhode Island. Does anyone have any tips on how to move over there? Or how RI’s out-of-state experience is?
I don’t know if this is too late for you, but as a Rhode Islander I can offer my opinion. I’m not sure what you are going for, but they have a pretty great nursing program. I have many friends that attend URI. URI is a popular safety school for Rhode Island students, and there are many in-state students. Some people say that this makes it feel like high school all over again. If you do decide on URI, I would advise getting involved as early as possible in order to make friends, both from Rhode Island and other parts of the country. As far as RI itself, my very biased opinion is that it is a very beautiful state, especially Newport, the southern coast, and the beaches. Everything in Rhode Island is usually within an hour and a half drive from everything else.
Hope this helps and best of luck.
I have a freshman there. He loves it. He joined a club early on and has a great circle of friends. He’s in the honors program so all his classes are small. We are instate and he almost never sees people he knows. Nothing like high school. The Narragansett Bay is a great resource if you like water sports. Surfing is popular.
