Rhode Island...seems too calm.

So I am really considering Rhode Island.

I'm from California ...

It just seems blah right now. Party school? Does Rhode Island have parties? Excitement? Much of anything crazy?

uri is the definition of a party school.
plus providence is nearby, plenty to do there. clubs, theaters, mall, waterfire.
ri isn't that bad.

tomsojka, is it true that a lot of kids go home for the weekend? How is the social life for out-of-state students? How do you get into Providence if you don't have a car? Do you know if its easy to get a bus to Boston??
Thanks

you can always find someone on campus, there is always a party somewhere. RIPTA can get you anywhere in Rhode Island. That's the bus system we have. And URI gives students free bus passes. Once you're in Providence, you can get on the train to Boston, no problem.

thank you!!!

uri is definitely a party school. the greek system is a huge aspect of the party scene but you can find them without going greek. A bunch of kids move off campus to houses by the beach and there are definitely parties down there.
Also there is train station right in Kingston about 2 minutes from campus, you get a train to Boston from there also.
