I graduated high school in 1988, and am 42. GPA 3.0 and graduated in the top 15 percent out of 589 students. My SATs were fairly average (was never great at test taking). I've been in the work force most of the time I've been out of school, but I've been chronically underemployed, so I don't expect my resume to help other than the fact that I have work history. I have also raised a family.

I am very, very eager to get a degree. I've been through a lot in my life and have a real understanding of what I want out of life and don't take for granted the value of a college education. I am hoping that will help my chances. I believe I did well on the essays.

I need to "commute" to school so I could only apply to George Mason University and Virginia Commonwealth University. The only other school close enough said they wouldn't accept an application from someone my age without transfer credits!! Of course, I respect both schools and feel very fortunate to be this proximity from them, and I'd be honored to be accepted at either.

I'm going bananas waiting to hear back; I want to go so much. What are my chances given my unique circumstance?
