Going from CGS to PreMed

Would this work If I was going from CGS to Pre Med?

Freshman Year: 3.0+
SS101 SS102
HU101 HU102
RH101 RH102
CAS MA121 (Calculus) CAS MA122 (Calculus II) <— Elective

Sophomore Year:
SS201 SS202
HU201 HU202
CAS CH101 (Chemistry I) CAS CH102 (Chemistry II) <— (Chemistry will replace CGS NS)
CAS BI107 (Biology I) CAS BI108 (Biology II) <— Elective

I wouldn’t have to take summer classes either right? So what’s wrong with CGS if things work out this nicely?

During orientation they have an info session for everyone who thinks they might be interested in pre med. I’m not in CGS, but someone from that school asked if it is possible to still go to medical school the year after you graduate instead of waiting a year, and the woman who was talking to us said that it is possible. I guess the issue is that you need to be done with all of the prerequisite classes before you apply. So you can’t be finishing them up your senior year, which seems to be what a lot of CGS students end up doing. This is the schedule they showed us for someone who is pre med:

Freshman year:
Fall: CH 101 (or CH109 CH111) BI 107
Spring: CH 102 (CH110 CH112) BI 108 (or BI118)

Sophomore year:
Fall: CH203 (or 211) MA 121 (or MA 123)
Spring: CH204 or CH 214 (or CH 212) MA 1221 or (MA 124)

Junior year:
Fall: PY 105 (or PY211 or PY 241)
Spring: PY 106 (or PY 212 PY 242)

I guess the issue would be the organic chemistry that they recommend you take sophomore year. They prefer that you don’t take organic chemistry over the summer. Apparently medical schools like to see if you can handle that class while taking a full course load. In reality the worst thing that can happen is that you have to postpone med school until one year after graduation, which isn’t really that uncommon anyway.
