Going from Oxford to Emory -- What is that like?

What is it like for Oxford students when they finish up the two years at Oxford and transfer into Emory? Do they maintain the friendships they made at Oxford? Or does everyone sort of go their separate ways?

My son raised this as a concern this morning (thinking if he's denied at Emory, they might ask if he'd like to apply to Oxford). One of his high priorities in choosing a college is to find a place where he'll make lifelong friends, and he has a lot of liberal arts colleges on his list for this reason.

Any opinions?

Seems like the Oxford students I am friends with have very close ties to the other students there. Somewhat of a series of Oxford cliques I guess.

My cousin (and many of my friends) chose that path over some other renowned colleges. They loved the close-knit Oxford community, but definitely thought the courseload was very very tough compared to the undergrad at Emory. However, being such a small class at Oxford, you can really become involved in leadership roles which will ultimately help you at Emory.
