What exactly is bid day when joining a sorority? I'm a little unclear on how the selection process for that works? Will some be rejected?

I believe that bid day occrus at the end of Rush Week. As long as you are interested, invovled and active, I think you should get a bid.

But what exactly occurs during a bid? A sorority will request a certain group of girls?

When a sorority extends a bid to you, that means they want you to join their sorority basically. Yes some do get rejected. If you go out to their events during rush and get to know the girls, you should get a bid.

okay that makes sense. Thanks! And just as a suggestion, do you recommend freshmen to even try to pledge or wait until their second year?

I pledged my first year. Some of my pledge sisters were second years and even third years. You can pledge whenever you would like to :)

I was just wondering… how are the initiations as far as the UCI greek system is concerned?

initiation?

Initiation…I suggest you choose your sorority/frat carefuly. Based on what I heard, the ethnic frats/sororities WILL haze you. The non-ethnic groups will not. The school says hazing is against the law, but it stilll happens, so be ready!

Alright thanks about how much extra is it to join a sorority? Is it about $800 more or more or less?

Oh panhellenic ones go into hundreds&thousands…whereas “ethnic” ones as brando puts it…are less than $100.
