Going to Boarding School as a Junior

This will be my first year as a boarding student. Is there anyone else who has come to prep school in a later year? I know some places are cliquish and it's hard to form friendships when freshman year pretty much marks that, but any advice?

I'm coming from a public school system, so the workload will probably be a bit much for me at first. But I've taken the most challenging courses available to me.

Which school?

I started as a new sophomore and the number one problem I found was that all the returning sophomores seemed to cling to each other for a while. And there was a decent number of us newbies, about 20 so we clung to each other too. It made integrating hard, so I would advise you try and integrate yourself as quickly as possible. Be outgoing and nice and involved and people will accept you just fine.

I’ve actually noticed as a new junior there are less other new juniors so integrating is usually a bit easier. The only bigger issue you might have is academically everyone else had two years to build up to that heavy workload whereas you’re just going to be thrown into it. Be prepared to have more homework than you have ever had (I came from a public school too) but you’ll adjust quickly. You sort of have to!

Let me know if you have any more questions :)
