I'm doing volunteer work in Tangier, Morocco for two weeks in May and then studying abroad in Paris this summer from may 25 to june 25. What clothes/necessities should I pack? I want to keep it all in one suitcase and take a 2nd empty suitcase for souvenirs.

Remember that Morocco is an Islamic country, so dress respectfully. There’s no need for a hijab (headscarf) unless you want to visit a mosque, but you do need to cover at least the knees (my favourite standby for Islamic countries is a pair of light linen trousers) and shoulders, and not have any cleavage on show. Just because other tourists are wearing shorts and tank tops, it doesn’t make it ok for you to, and you will get a better reaction from the locals if you do not (and you’ll be less likely to incite unwanted attention). Take a sweater - it can get fairly cool at night, and some enclosed shoes. The latter isn’t for the sake of modesty, but because the streets won’t be hugely clean. Wear a wedding ring, or something that will pass for one, and invent a husband who is ‘just around the corner’ when asked where he is.

As for Paris, there are no real cultural things to avoid (unless you want to wear a full Islamic face covering e.g. a burqa or niqab in public which is illegal), but look at the average temperatures and pack enough to keep you warm, including something to keep the rain off.
