Going to NY

What's there to do?

My list of things to do is to hit up all the museums there as visit the twin towers. Other than that, thats 2 weeks to do other things which I don't really know much about!

Anyone care to give me any suggestions, I want to make the best out of this trip that I have!

NYC?

Empire State Building, but the line to go to the top is very long, and probably not worth doing, maybe once though.
Take the ferry to Staten Island.
Statue of Liberty.
I think there’s this really huge Barnes and Noble there.
Visit the shops, Soho, Flushing, just take in the city, walk around, see the homeless
Central Park
The Beast speedboat ride.
See a gang fight.
Don’t get mugged.
Bronx Zoo.
Visit the FAO Schwarz(sic) store. Awesomeness.

FAO Schwarz and Apple Store right next to it. Dylan’s Candy Bar a few blocks away.
All the usual stuff, Central Park, Empire State Building, Ground Zero, etc.
NYU, Columbia
Helicopter Ride for around $100 I think
You can find plenty to do in two weeks.

Thanks!!! I didn’t even know all those things were there lol. I’m totally clueless when it comes to traveling XD

About Fao… it isn’t that good anymore. it was shut down for years and reopened. I would say it was better 10 years ago… still worth it but there is also a toys r us that is huge. The rest has been mentioned besides going to a Broadway play. if you haven’t gone to one, go to one.

well i’m not sure you can visit the twin towers though…haha i guess you can still see what’s left of it. visit chinatown, little italy, and harlem too

^yeah I was going to say…

If you plan on seeing a broadway musical, you should definitely get tickets in advance. It doesn’t work like a movie theatre :S

Statue of Liberty
Shopping in Times Square!
Oh and don’t forget to visit Chinatown, NY it’s quite large!

Just take a walk around, go shopping on Fifth Avenue, visit the Met and the MOMA and hang around in Central Park. Make sure you find a good place to eat (that’s quite easy in Manhattan :))

you should take a leaf out of my book. lol ;)

here’s the stuff I remember doin as a clueless 8th grader goin to NY/Washington DC/Philtheldelphia

statue of liberty
shopping in times square (thank you cloud)
broadway
empire state building
apple store
donald trump’s building (the toilets ARN’T made of gold, sorry)
tiffany’s or something (where the disposable towels were actually real towels…)
swimming pool?
the naked cowboy (if he is still there)
walk
learn the art of jaywalking
learn that NY is REALLY EXPENSIVE even in the most mundane items (i.e. film, camera card, batteries, etc…)
Manhatten
wonderful pizza
ground zero
chinese town (chinese food… yuum)

and the likes…

If you live in CA and you’re going to be in NYC for two weeks, I would suggest taking day trips to other areas on the east coast such as the Jersey shore, Philly, CT, and maybe even parts of MA and upstate NY.

Do the Statue of Liberty… it takes like an entire day…

Ummmm… FAO Shwartz…

Let’s see… the things that I did this past March with my two days there…
FAO Shwarts
Apple Store
The Plaza (All three located together!)
Empire State Building
You couldn’t really see the Twin Towers when I was there… they had HUGE fences up, so that might still be a problem
colleges
the Arch that looks like the Arch de Triumph
Ride the Subway! XD
Find some really cool restaurants

I went to NYC for spring break and saw almost ALL of the big landmarks. A lot of the places are even cool just to go look at. I went for a week and it is probably my favorite city. Here are some ideas:

Central Park
Statue of Liberty
Chinatown
Little Italy
5th Avenue
The “FRIENDS” House
Times Square
Broadway
Empire State Building
Flatiron Building
Trump Tower
Rockefeller Plaza
World Trade Center
Madison Square Garden
Grand Central Station
Chrysler Building

Oh jeez…there’s TONS of stuff! Maybe look at a few colleges while you’re there if you like it alot. (Pace, Fordham, NYU, CUNY’s, The New School)

“Top of the Rock” observation deck at 30 Rock… try to go at night if you can.
Peanut Butter & Co. in Greenwich… its a restaurant that serves different kinds of peanut butter sandwiches. worth a visit, i promise you.
Canal Street
Fifth Avenue
Touring NBC Studios
Walk through Wall Street (semi-claustrophobic because of the buildings in that area)
They have awesome underground concerts too, so keep an eye out for posters :]

Citifield.

Coney Island
Aquarium
Brighton Beach

Columbia? Julliard? Plus if you look at the OP’s location he’s already out of high school.

Dang, so many things to do! Thanks guys for the advices!

I’m definitely going to hit up all of those, i’m going to try to find a play i would like to see too!

I have no doubt Chinatown is going to be the FIRST place i’m going to visit, since my cousins over there have been talking about it like nonstop :D

Oh, I didn’t know Twin Towers were fenced that high :(.

Yeah, I heard things at NYC were a bit expensive, I’m going to try to look at the underground market, hurray for connections!

hangout with the gangstas and get shot
