We are bringing my kid to Ready…Set…Pitt! this Saturday and I just want to know if there tips on how to get the most out of this all-day event.
Would it be possible for us to to find out if she could be in the running for merit aid while we are there? How do we do that? (We are in-state)
Thanks.

Is it worth it to attend Ready Set Pitt? I already took a tour of Pitt once and I was wondering if it is seen or helps in the admissions review.

I don’t know, @Chelsey123 , this will be our first visit. It’s on a Saturday which makes it convenient for us.
She does get an app fee waiver if she applies before we go.

Okay thanks. So they definitely will reimburse you the fee even if you already applied and paid the fee?

Oh - I don’t know about reimbursing - you can try and ask I guess?
They also have that one day thing for specific majors that you might be interested in.

Okay thanks!

Ready, Set, Pitt is a longer program than the usual info. session and tour. It will give you a chance to tour upper campus as well, and you get a kickoff breakfast (ok, it’s just juice and maybe danish or something) in Alumni Hall, with tables set up for some of the student groups, the Band, other campus offices - like the transportation, health services - they all have tables with info. The day includes a lunch in the main dining hall (Market Central). All in all, a nice intro to Pitt. If your kid has interests in honors housing (Sutherland) or engineering, chem - make sure you take the upper campus tour and not just the standard lower campus tour. Otherwise, interesting things to do when you are not busy, walk around the Cathedral, maybe look into the Nationality Rooms there. Walk around Schenley Plaza (right between the Cathedral and Carnegie Library), get some food at Conflict Kitchen, some bubble tea maybe…if it’s nice out, it’s a great place to people watch and take a break. If you really have time - the Natural History museum or Art museum are right there and Phipps Conservatory is up the street.

And if you want to ask finaid about merit chances, the office is right on the first floor of Alumni Hall where the day begins, there’s usually a few parents mingling in there.

Thanks @amandakayak !

Ok, I just noticed something weird - the comment I just posted is times-stamped “Yesterday at 8:04 pm”.
I’m pretty sure this is a collegeboard bug because I checked it on my tablet & my laptop.

Yep, that’s odd. Just a little bug.
