I'm heading up to Stern this fall, but the situation is complicated. My sister is cosigning for one year of student loans, about 25-30k per year will be my cost. The first year is covered with her, but after that she says I'm on my own. I probably won't be able to take out a loan on my own, so I'm thinking I could transfer to another school with better financial aid. NYU has crap financial aid. I was thinking, I would have a pretty good reason for transferring to Stanford. I could say that instead of following the direct route to Wall Street, I would rather study the more broad field of economics. But do you guys think this is plausible?

Please, help is highly appreciated. I've got to build my options for when my first year is over.

you really think it's worth it to take out a loan for 30k just to attend nyu for a year? i'm pretty sure other people will agree and think it's pretty stupid, especially if you're looking to transfer.

and when you do transfer, financial aid isn't that much better. colleges don't really offer much scholarships, if any, to transfer students (unless you're in phi theta kappa).
