Going To UGA from Chicago

Hey people i am a senior in high school from the north shore of Chicago and I am most likely going to the University of Georgia next year. (Business Major) However before I commit, I have a few concerns. First I am just interested how I will adapt to this change of culture going to college in the south. 85% of UGA students are from the peach state so I will be a complete minority once I get there. I am just wondering is it a bad idea to go to college in the south when you are from the north? Anyone with a similar experience i would appreciate your thoughts.

I don’t think you will have any problem and will, in fact, love it. Midwesterners are friendly and Southerners are even more so! It’s a large university and won’t feel all that different from IU or UI.

Half the student body is from the metro Atlanta area, which is a pretty diverse and cosmopolitan place. You won’t be with a bunch of peers who have never been outside the region.
