Golden Gopher application vs International application

Hello I am an international student who studies in US.
Currently, I got an e-mail from UMN. It says I am qualified for the Golden Gopher application with no fee!
However, I already filled out the Internatinoal app and the 600 characters essay as well.
At this point, what application should I go for?

GG app with no fee($55) or International app with decent essay
Is there any disadventage or adventage for the Golden Gopher App?
Frankly, I don’t know why I am qualified for this app because my GPA and the SAT score are not not as noticable as other applicants.

I’d call the Admissions office. First of all, you want to make sure that the Golden Gopher application you received has the same questions as the international application that you already completed and sent (or were about to send). Assuming it does, you then want to make sure you don’t have to re-do your application just to get a fee waiver. Admissions would likely just give you a code or something to waive your application fee.

They’ll be the best people to help you with this question.

This year (and I think last year as well) several posters reported that non-resident students were being invited to apply w/no fee required. If they didn’t receive a Golden Gopher notice they just needed to contact Admissions about it to get their fee waived or be sent the GG invitation. There is actually nothing “different” about the GG application - it’s pretty much just the standard undergraduate application already partially completed with whatever information they had about you in their data base (and for out-of-state residents there is a fee waiver).

Good luck!
