Goldwater scholarship - What do you know?

Cur, Congratulations! Your daughter is just amazing! Congrats to all other winners and Honorable Mentions as well.

WOW! Congratulations to Mudgarella - do your goats ever get tired of all that celebratory dancing?

A belated congrats to Curm & D and everyone else whose child won (or was even nominated).

My "children" did well which makes my employer VERY happy (and keeps me employed!) It's always a thrill to see them succeed and to celebrate with them. It's only the start of great things to come.

Congratulations to all the winners and their families. My son was one of two winners from Umich. We're very excited for him.

Last year, as a sophomore, the university invited him to apply, but they gave him the impression he could only apply once. We decided it was better to get another REU behind him before applying. Anyone else heard of the apply only once rule? I'm thinking maybe it a Umich rule.

My S was invited to apply last year as sophomore, but did not make the cut as school nominee. Invited again this year, and was one of the schools 4 nominees. Must be a UMich thing.

Anyway, Congrats to your S!

Definately a UMich thing. One of our winners was an Honorable Mention last year and one applied internally but was not nominated. She got more experience and this year we nominated her and she's a winner!

so is anybody out there anxiously awaiting this year's Goldwater results???

Yep, awaiting. I wonder how they'll let people know.

Just keep checking the GW website.

We're waiting as well. I know it is a long shot - no one at her school as ever gotten it. I've been checking the web site at a few times a day starting this past week. It is almost painful.

they definitely wouldn't post the results on a weekend. they'll probably do it relatively early on Monday morning.

It's up. :)

hehe. One Goldwater winner right here!

Another Goldwater Scholar here!!!! You should have heard the scream I let out at work!!!!!! Wow.
Janie

Many, many congrats. It's a wonderful honor and a sign of great things to come.

Congrats to all. Was nice to see several people whose names I recognize!

Another Goldwater Scholar here!!!!

madamebovary, way to go!!

Thanks curmudgeon, i was really surprised since i thought i didn't have a chance of winning it at all.

Congrats to all. The Goldwater folks are not kidding when they say this is a good springboard to even greater honors. Quite a few of this past years Rhodes winners had won Goldwaters, for example. So don't slack off now!

And, the money is really nice....
