whoa, that looks like a pretty good package. honestly your best bet is to try and get some private scholarships from outside sources. a couple thousand is honestly not to hard to come by in outside scholarships. congrats.

You don’t have to accept the 1 loan. You just need to contact the FA office and tell them how much to reduce it if you want to pay some in cash

But you most likely have a subsidized stafford loan and it doesn’t accrue interest while you are in school (you can take your 6K and put it in a SAFE place and use it to pay back loan after graduation, no prepayment penalties on stafford loans)

that is an excellent package for someone with a 0 EFC. Good luck to you

Wow, yeah you got a great financial aid package - my expected Pell grant is about the same ($5,350), but I was left with over $20,000 in loans… which means NYU probably isn’t going to happen, because my mom isn’t willing to take out loans or co-sign mine.

Can anyone tell me if it’s possible to get a better financial aid package out of them? And how? Thanks.

You can call and appeal your aid package. I did and was told that the max. more money I would receive was anywhere between $1000 and $2000. The guy was right because about three days later I got a call and was told that I received an additional $1500 scholarship, renewable each year. You should definitely call! It’s worth a try. Plus, I suppose, my new financial aid package is “a little” more realistic. Good luck to you!
