Good Architecture Schools

Anybody know of any schools with good professional architecture programs? Have you heard anything about the programs at these schools: Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Georgia Tech, NC State, Rensselaer, University of Maryland, Notre Dame, University of NC – Charlotte, University of Virginia, and Roger Williams?

How about Harvard, Cooper Union, Pratt, Cornell, and many others that are as good if not better than those mentioned by you.

The Cal Poly campuses (San Luis Obispo and Pomona) also have world-class undergrad architecture programs.

Top ones I've heard of are Cal poly SLO, Cal/Berkeley, U of Southern California, Harvard, Cooper Union, Carnegie-Mellon and Rice. But there are so many more.

Just be certain as to what degree they offer as an undergrad. Some, like University of Washington are, I beleive, only 4 year programs and don't qualify you for any licensing. Also, i believe that to really go anywhere in architecture you are going to need an undergrad and grad degree though anyway.

Son attends Rensselaer and had roomate who was an "Archie" and he barely saw him. He was ALWAYS in the Green bldg (the archi. bldg) doing work and projects...very intensive. He did well with something like a 3.8 GPA and is planning to go to Italy this fall semester to study a term abroad w/ profs.

Rice......

university of cincinnati

I've heard that Rice and Carnegie Mellon have pretty top architecture programs and that USC's is strong, too. I've heard that in all of these places, archies practically sleep in their studios... but I did meet one at Rice who seemed to have some free time.

cornell has the number one undergraduate arch program
its a 5 year b.arch program

rhode island school of design
nc state in raliegh has a really good program in the design school if you want more of a university setting. they have an excellent design school ...many programs and majors.

Tulane has a great architecture program.

Rensselaer has a good architecture program, but I think more known for engineering. Don't know too much about it, except that I second its really intense.

I know a bunch of people who went to Notre Dame and it has a really good reputation among architects. I've been considering architecture, and one of the architects I worked with will only hire Notre Dame graduates. Apparently they are one of the schools who still require drawing and a lot of architects really appreciate it. So it's quite well known.

Besides that I don't know any of the others on your list, but some to consider: obviously Yale, they have a wonderful architecture program. Someone else said Tulane. Clemson in SC. Princeton, UVA has a pre-architecture thing, I know of a couple architects who went there.

Thanks for all the input... I'll definitely keep it in mind
