My D is interested in the speech pathology program at Towson. She has heard that it is a suitcase school and it gets very lonely on weekends. Some kids love it and others seem to hate it and transfer asap.

If you know anything about Towson, good or bad, please share....we'd really appreciate it.

I really have no direct experience, but DS#1 goes to school with a kid who grew up in Towson and doesn’t have a whole lot of nice things to say about it. Besides being pretty suitcase-ish, it’s just not a very pretty place.

That said, if she’s found a strong program she’s interested in, that’s something. (I think a friend of mine did a graduate program in speech pathology at WVU–worth looking into?)

One young woman I know is there for speech pathology and is happy; it is supposed to be a good program. She is an in-state freshman. I don’t know how often she comes home. Towson trains a very high number of Maryland’s teachers and has grown quite a bit in the last decade.

You will want to ask how many students live on campus and if housing is guaranteed. There are several colleges around the same area. I don’t know how much they interact with one another. I think that there is some opportunity to take classes at different schools.
