Good biochem UC's/other around Walnut(near West Covina)?

I've been looking into UC Irvine and Pomona College for a major in biochemistry but I would like to know about others too.

And if anyone know but kind of GPA/SAT/etc. I should have to get into those colleges and what my chances would be?

My boyfriend lives in West Covina… Why do you want to study there!!! Ew!! (LOL, I’m from the city.)

Cal Poly Pomona obviously… it’s in Walnut, or next to it.

Pomona College takes the top of the top.
Don’t forget fellow Claremont colleges. I’m sure Harvey Mudd has something like a Biochem major, even if they don’t call it that. It’s one of the best science schools, period.

Caltech is in Pasadena, about 20 minutes away. Take the 10W to the 605N to the 210W, get off at Hill, drive south to California, turn right. You’re there. You have the be the best of the best to go there.

In east L.A. we have Occidental, in the Eagle Rock neighborhood (5 minutes from where I live!). Not sure if they have biochem, but as a well-known college, I’m sure they have something similar.

There’s UC Riverside, which is sort of nearby, and UC San Diego, UCLA, etc. USC isn’t far either, 40 minutes except in rush hour. Take the 10W to the 110S to Exposition, turn right onto Figueroa, you’re there.

USC likes SoCal kids in the top portion of their class, and is known to offer loads of money to people. They have a top engineering school, too. For less selective schools, you have Chapman in Orange and Redlands off the 10E.

Don’t pick your college based on major though. The better schools in the region will all offer biology and chemistry. You will have the option to create your own biochem focus if you like.
