Good books for vocab?

I was wondering if there were any good books on vocab?

Also, any way to study vocab efficiently would be appreciated.

I liked the Sparknote 1000 words list (its not a book; you can find it on the internet)

A lot of people here recommend going through both volumes of the Direct Hits book series. Heard it has the most “hits” on the PSAT/SAT than any other list recently.

Reading through 2 volumes of Direct Hits are by far the best vocab prep you can get unless you are willing to memorize 3000 words from a list.
Direct hits words have had the highest appearance on the real SATs; and the way the words are explained is really really helpful. The explanations are geared towards today’s youth. For exampe:
Dumledore’s Army was a surreptitious group(secretive)
or
Amy Winehouse is a recalcitrant woman who in her song sings "“No No No”.(stubborn) etc.

Yup - Direct Hits!! I got all the sentence completions right
