Good books?

Hey all, anybody know some good books to read? I really like war books, like Fallen Angels, fantasy...like redwall :), or adventure like I am Legend.

thanks

Read the book: Rifles for Waite by Harold Keith.

It's an excellent war book/romance book that dates back to the Civil War.

Only 400 pages too.

-Pillars of the Earth, Ken Follet
(Not quite a war book, but many similar elements. It is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.)

The Archer's Tale, Vagabond, and Heretic, Bernard Cornwell
(A trilogy of straight up medieval war stories. Very engaging reads.)

The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass, Phillip Pullman
(Once again not quite typical war novels, but similar themes and a quick suspenseful plot. Also, the movies are coming out soon. They are a simpler read but are nonetheless engaging and even mind expanding.)

I would say "1984" but the part when Winston is reading Goldstein's book is INCREDIBLY boring!!!!!

ooh....1984..
good book, but its kind of PG13-15
(I started reading it in 8th grade...horrible experience...)

Read the Iliad! LMAO sike. Its good but it takes forever to read. Dont bother. Read.. umm.. All quiet on the western front.

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller if you haven't already. A very popular, humourous novel for mature teens and adults.

My #1 favorite book :P

I just finished The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. I couldn't put it down until I'd finished it. It's probably my favorite book of all time now.

And now I know where things like "42" and "don't panic" come from!

[1984 is good too, as swim2daend said. But I skipped over the whole analysis of social hierarchy. I'd advise doing something similar with Ayn Rand's books, or just not reading them.]

Under a wartorn sky. great book. i read it in 8th grade though so it might be a little under your reading level but it was probably one of my favorite books ever.WWII. andddddd moonstone. also WWII. this one was kinda depressing but it was such a good book. read them.

War of the Rats by David Robbins is a pretty suspenseful war novel. Golden Compass and Hitchhikers are are a must for fantasy reading. Dracula and Huck Finn are the best adventure stories I've read (and I don't read often for fun).

Slaughterhouse-5 by Vonnegut is good, but not a traditional war book.

and fizix is totally right about that book. very very fun read, especially if you're into ironic humor

Ahh...the cheesiest book I've ever read.

Read anything by Aristophanes. Still funny after 2400 years.

The Importance of Being Earnest is also pretty good, as is anything by Vonnegut, Tolkien, Steinbeck, or Chretien de Troyes (as you can see, I have varied interests).
