Hi I am transferring to USC during fall and I was wondering what were good apartments near USC for around $500-700 rent if I am living in 1 room with 2 people? so about $1000-$16000 a room? If it goes a little over then that's ok.

I am looking for an apartment place that is very close to USC, like less than 10 minute walk because I keep hearing USC's surroundings are dangerous. OR an apartment complex next to a USC tram stop where I can just walk to the tram stop and take the tram to USC campus.

Please help me! I really want to look for an apartment off campus because the ones that are owned by USC are a bit expensive and most of the ones that are cheaper are full ):

“Dangerous” is relative. Besides, would tens of thousands of kids apply every year if it was truly “dangerous”? This is a very outdated mindset of the area around USC. No, it’s not Beverly Hills – but just like any big city, your chances of being a victim of a crime are increased by your actions. Act stupid, don’t be aware of your surroundings and you WILL be a victim of crime. Stick to North Campus and you’ll be OK.

City Park is a good option, but you should also look at the apartments on Ellendale (like Carolina), some of the StuHo options and NuPac (which I think are the yuckiest apartments, but are definitely cheap.)

S lived in “The Pad” in 2008-2009. It was right across from the USC soccer field & near the frat/sorority houses. It was quite reasonable and near your price range. He felt it was a safe place to live & the area is regularly patrolled by campus security. The rooms were quite large and there is gated parking as well.
