International student housing

<p>Hi!
I'm a French student who will be studying at USC next year. I'm leaving to LA in August but still don't have a place to stay.
As I don't really know the neighborhoods surrounding USC, and wanting to make sure security would not be issue, I wanted to ask you a question:
i was proposed two apartments: one at 3000 kenwood Avenue and another at 1144 W 35th St. Could you tell me if those are situated in safe neighborhoods?</p>

<p>Moreover, as I've not rented anything as of yet, would you have any late proposal of 2 bedrooms units or even studios that may still be available today?</p>

<p>Thanks a lot for your help.</p>

<p>Nobody to help a poor foreigner out here? :(</p>

<p>Hey,
I am a french student too =-)
From what I have heard if you don’t go out at 3am you should be fine =-).
The neighborhood that is risky isn’t around the school, it’s at about 10 min car ride. So don’t worry about the security mate.
Is the distance from the school a factor in your decision?
I am sorry I can’t be more help but are you a transfer?</p>

<p>Of course it is, I won’t have a car right away. Not a transfer, I’m an exchange student from Science Po Paris.
I was told that some neighbourhoods were pretty shaky around USC so I don’t want to take a quick decision that I will regret later on.</p>

<p>valdu08, I’d suggest that you email USC campus security (DPS) and ask your questions. There is a designated area outside the borders of campus that DPS constantly patrols and monitors. If these housing options are within that perimeter, it’s a good thing. Generally, the neighborhood that borders USC to the North is filled with student housing, patrols, etc and is preferred by many.</p>

<p>Those places are probably fine… but west of Vermont is definitely a bit more sketchy</p>

<p>How about near Parkside IRC dorms?</p>
