Hi, I have only used "FISKE Guide to Colleges" book and school web sites to help my daughter making decisions on which colleges to apply (my D is a HS junior). Is there any other books out there that is good to use for college information?

My daughter went to 2 school information session and campus tours so far. She didn't find the information sessions that useful. If I can find another one or two books that is similar to "FISKE Guide", that will be great. Thanks.

We used the Fiske guide and The Insiders Guide to Colleges. I liked the latter better. I feel that Fiske is not well updated even though there is a new issue every year.

The only book that we found helpful was College Board’s College Majors book. We bought it two years ago and still were using it last week.

We started out using the College Board website for searches. It has great filters. I met an admissions counselor in a outside environment who suggested collegedata.com. I really recommend this website! I love its save feature, it’s been very handy.

I think you’ll also be able to narrow down the type of school as you continue visiting. Does she have any friends already at a school where she can stay overnight? Or can she look for programs geared toward juniors where that’s an option? We toured just over half a dozen schools (only), but it was very helpful to D to get a feel for each school.
