Hi, I recently applied to a bunch of school out of states so I just thought if I should apply some in sate in case if I cannot afford to pay out of sates. Please give me some suggestions good school in VA. My academic is kinda horrible so idk where i could fit in (I don't know a lot about VA school bc I never thought i would consider going in state)
GPA: ~3.75
SAT: ~1650 ( I am planning to get it up to at least 1750-1800 hopefully)

Why does someone with an A- average say their academics are “horrible?” What does that 3.75 actually signify? What is your unweighted GPA using only the academic cores (math, science, history, English, foreign language)?

I said its horrible because nowaday people have like 4.5+ and like a 2400 on their SAT.
I don’t really know what i want to major in yet. I would prefer near a city but not inside a city. Thank you for your time

Well, you have a solid GPA. GPA’s are also calculated in so many different ways that the numbers alone are meaningless. A 4.3 from one school might put you in the 80% percentile of your class, while a 3.8 at another might put you in the top 10% or better. Judging where you might fit with a 3.75 GPA and a potential 1800 (600 per section) SAT is close to impossible to determine without context, but I’d say that while UVA, W&M and W&L are highly unlikely, you could probably look at most anything else on the long list of Virginia colleges and universities.

From your statement about other people having a 4.5+ I assume your 3.75 is weighted. What is your unweighted GPA? What is your class rank? I would agree with George Mason and James Madison (I don’t know about other schools).

George Mason U. used to be a commuter college, but I understand it has been progressing greatly. You can step on the Metro and easily be in downtown DC, but you don’t have to put up with inner city problems. It could be a great “financial safety” for an in-state resident.
