Good decision???

I went to bulldog days and fell in love with Yale. I feel as if there is no doubt I will go there. At the end my decision was between Yale and Stanford but I have never seen Stanford. I will see it on the 28th of april which is sooo close to the decision day. Would it be wrong for me to send in my yale stuff before i even see Stanford because I dont see how I can ever turn down Yale???

No, it would not be wrong. Go to Yale.

Why not just wait and be sure?

If you're going to visit Stanford either way, you might as well wait on Yale; oherwise, thoughts of "what if I've made a terrible mistake?" will probably be hanging over you the whole time you're at Stanford.

Don't worry, be happy :). This will all turn out splendidly.

yeah you guys are right. I'll just wait even though im uncomfortable sending in my things in the day before they are due.

I think you should wait, just to be absolutely sure. What if Stanford really was the right place for you?

That said, I do hope you choose Yale!

I disagree - Yale is better, so you should send your stuff in now.

Just kidding, of course - it won't hurt you to see Stanford firsthand (even though you'll still end up at Yale). :) Just enjoy this opportunity - it's a rare one.

don't worry about the "i'm worried about sending my things in the day before they're due" feeling. i literally mailed my reply card to yale at 1 pm on may 1 (let's just say I was having a really difficult time deciding between yale and MIT... i think i've made the right decision tho :-P). may 1 is the postmark date, not the absolute "we must receive it by then" date (unless they've changed something from last year). just make sure that you actually take it to a post office and send it registered/certified so that you can prove you actually sent it by the required date, should anything horrible happen and the postal service (god forbid!) loses your reply card.

don't worry, though. you'll be fine :-P

Also keep in mind that in most cases, when ALL things are equal, the college you visit last will be the one you prefer and the one you will most likely choose, since that experience will be the last one you remember. This is why colleges like Stanford and Harvard use this tactic and hold their open houses at the end of the month.

The admissions guy (34 year vet at Yale admissions) who spoke to parents Tues morn at BDD said that it is OK to mail your reply on 5/2 (5/1 is a Sunday). FYI, he said what they really don't like is if you don't respond at all. Then they will call you maybe, and ask what the deal is. So send it in 5/2 or before.

omg thank you guys so much for telling me not to send in my stuff. I went to Stanford and fell in love with it. I am going there next year definently. Im sorry I wont be going to school with you amazing people next year. Good luck and have a great time at Yale!!!!

sigh...........my best friend went to stanford admit day and came back deciding to go to stanford instead of yale. Now i really wish I went too, so i could have the chance of comparing the 2 schools.

Jesus, what is so great about the campus?!

It seems you fall in love with schools very easily during their admitted students' days...:p

That said, good luck at Stanford.

i was about 90% sure about yale when I went to visit Stanford but once I stepped onto the campus I knew it was for me. I just got that gut feeling that I didnt get at either yale or duke.

Vivaldi makes a good point ;)

'Twas the free crack. Kidding. There /was/ tons of free junk food though.
