Only on CC would I ask this (so don't flame me), but my son's now taken four SAT IIs and his scores are: Latin 770, Bio 760, Math IIC 740, USH 730. Again, good in the regular world, not so impressive on CC. He's a bit upset about the 730 since he's a strong history student, but learns themes and concepts more than names and dates. Should he retake any of the SAT IIs or take any additional ones to try and get one more in the 750+ range (since if he can't get an 800 in Latin, he's not getting an 800 in any other subject). He wants to apply EA to Yale (although a month ago it was Harvard, who knows where it'll be in Nov) and wants the best possible stats. Will the 740 and 730 cause the scales to tip against him, or is 700 the threshhold (and I'm just on drugs)? Thanks.

I'm also wondering this, as I'm taking SAT II's tomorrow. Is 700+ good enough for Yale? Also, is it 2 or 3 that are required? (I could look that up but I'm lazy).

thanks!

Three are required, I'm pretty sure.

If you really want to send the history one, I would probably take it over again (but don't just take my advice, I'm no expert!!). But another solution would be to just send the lation, bio, and math scores. and not send the history scores.

I think score-choice has been eliminated, sadly. I recall that being an issue my freshman year in high school when considering whether to take the Bio SATII.

And to all those panicked, I don't think Yale will disqualify you b/c of one low SATII test. I got a 690 on the IIC, and they still took me (though my other scores in Bio, US, and Eng Lit were rather strong). I think they look at the whole package, and while a low SATII score can't help you, it won't put you out of the running either.

Best,
DMW

If you take the ACT plus writing, you don't need SAT II's.
