good enough to get accepted to stanford??

Hello everyone..i need help so i hope you guys can answer my questions.
im sorry if i posted this on the wrong place.
So I am a sophomore in high school right now and i want to go to Standford university.

My grade point average right now is 3.5 not the best but because im not as smart as other people i struggle. But i am going to work my butt off to get a 4.0 GPA next semester. I play tennis and i participate in about 5 clubs. I took the practice SAT and i did really bad.Right now im also planning on joining track.

So my question is If i play tennis for another 2 years and join track for another two years
and have about 5 clubs daily all week and become the president for about 3 clubs. Take as much AP classes and passed with a 4.0 GPA until my senior year. If i do a lot of charity work and volunteer because i do love helping to community and If i run for a speech contest..Will this be good enough to get accepted into Stanford???

Because i got really bad on the practice SAT i am also planning on doing some hardcore studying with books i received to help with the SAT. I dont know how thats going to turn out because im often slow at learning things.

So my MAIN question is whatever i am planning on doing for the next two years of high school is it good enough to get accepted into Stanford University??
So please give me your opinion on what else i should work on or anything.
Thank you so much for reading and please reply.

Nothing is impossible, but from what you have described, you would have little to zero chance of getting into Stanford. You would need much much more than the things you list. It is very difficult to get into Stanford even with a 4.0 your whole high school career, and excellent SAT’s. Being in clubs and sports are a dime a dozen. If you can golf like Tiger Woods, or run the football like Toby Gerhard, that is a total different story. I can’t even begin to describe how difficult it is to get admitted.
If you really are slow at learning things, then Stanford is not the place for you. I would still try and do the things you mentioned though, as it will help your chances at other colleges.

BaoXiong, There is no way to angle yourself to get into Stanford. It is worrying that you’re planning out the next few years of your life to work your butt off just to try and ‘get into stanford’. While I concur that you should practise more for the SAT1, and maintain decent grades in school, you should spend your time doing what you love to do, perhaps pursuing a sport you really feel for, or a hobby you really enjoy, or a cause that makes you passionate.

When you do what you love, you will excel at it, and that will shine through in your essay, your recommendations, your activities. There’s no point structuring yourself into what you think is a likely stanford admit- because there is simply no such mould. Even if there is, there shouldn’t be, because high school is not just about getting into college. That’s not to say that the basics (SAT, grades) are not important, because they are. But the many clubs, the targeted leadership positions? Don’t do anything for show, or for the sake of the position. Do it because you enjoy it, learn much from it, and just focus on that!

Finally, school should be fun. Relax. Play. HAVE FUN! build your character and learn more about yourself.

Anyway- Why Stanford? Is it because it is a brand name, the prestige? Find a school that you feel well-matched with.

Do you plan on going liberal arts? If so, I would go for an Ivy. If math/science/engineering, Stanford would be a good fit for you.

Well said snowshoez. Be the best student, athlete, club member, etc you can be, but do it because you love it, not because you think it will get you into a certain college. A lot can change in two years, but when you are a senior, options will become clearer. There a a ton of good colleges out there, don’t pidgeonhole yourself into just one, and certainly not as a sophomore.

Lucky for you you still have a lot of time to work toward Stanford if it is really what you want. I agree that you should find things you love and work at those things. You have a lot of time to improve grades and practice at SATs. As a senior who already applied, I recommend starting early on the essays! (summber before senior year) Dont procrastinate! And set some achievable goals for yourself and work to reach them! These goals dont necessarily have to be 2400 on SAT or 4.0, but getting good grades is important. Balance your time and HAVE A FUN HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE!

thank you so much for the help :)

thank you and to everyone who replied and gave me your opinions i gladly appreciate it…and i will now focus on things i love to do best…thank you all once again im so glad.

BaoXiong, your drive and motivation is evident, and your realization of your dreams is definitely the first step in making them come true. I have high hopes for you, and I do not doubt that you will succeed in your endeavors, as long as you stay committed and focused. Good for you for planning out your course of action in obtaining your goal! Your post made me smile, and I know everything will work out for you as you are clearly eager to begin your journey and are willing to tirelessly work for it. I hope this message finds you in good health and good spirits, and just know that I am definitely rooting for you! “Action is the foundational key to all success.”

thank you…so much

Oh and starting a business/website wouldn’t hurt! lol. I know it’s terrible to say, and this won’t ‘guarantee’ your acceptance into Stanford, but I always think its really impressive when I hear hs kids starting business or community service organizations. Just imo, I have no clue if more kids get accepted because of this. But Stanford does love creativity and entrepreneurship.
