Good essay idea?

Hey CC!

I've been drafting my personal essay for the common app, and my idea thus far is about my experience re-learning how to walk after my ankle surgery and healing. Essentially, the whole experience taught me that it is essential for people to overcome fear, break barriers, stuff of that sort. Is this an alright idea?

If so, which topic would this go under? I'm thinking it would mainly fit under topic 1 (significant experience and its impact on you) or, if not, topic of my choice.

Thank you everyone.

Note: if you would like me to elaborate more on my idea, please say so! I thought that a brief summary of the idea would suffice, though.

It could be good, but from your summary it doesn’t like it’s reaching its potential. It has to be about you as a person and how you’ve changed. It can’t just be a lesson you learned and how you learned it. It CAN be a lesson you learned while you were struggling and how you have now changed as a person in many aspects of your life, preferably with short anecdotes or examples. Even tho that lesson does apply to all people, they dont care about that, they care how it does and has applied to you!

Thank you, randomkid. I guess I’ll have to put more thought into it; perhaps I can use the idea for some other supplementary essay.

Any other thoughts, please?
