From grade 2 to grade 9 I attended a small, private girls school. I had the same 5 girls in my class for 8 years, and I feel this is really what shaped me as a person and a student. I was just wondering if this would be a good essay topic? I can bring a lot of other things into it too haha. this school was my life for a really really long time. Good essay topic or is it something a lot of people could write about?

A good essay topic for you is one that allows you to be personal, detailed, honest and revealing. If your essay is sufficiently personal, detailed, honest and revealing, then your essay will be unique to you; no one else would be able to write it.

If you do use this topic, imo make sure that the essay mainly reveals you as you are now, not mainly as you were in younger grades.

I don't know if a lot of people write about this particular topic but a good number do write about how their surroundings and experiences shape them as a person/student.

It could be a good essay topic if you remember to make the central focus, yourself and not the 5 girls. It'll be tricky because you are including other people into the essay when at the same time, you are trying to concentrate on yourself. Maybe consider certain qualities or attributes of the five and apply them to you or how they changed you. It'll be important to consider questions like: How did this change me? What have I learned? How will I use this experience? Where has it taken or will take me?

Ultimately, the colleges will always be more interested in YOU than the people around you. So always try to bring it back to yourself.
