I thought of writing my essay topic about my name. Before you judge and assume that this is and odd and maybe a bad choice for a topic, hear me out. I'm half persian and half italian. I've lived in London, Toronto (dual citizenship), Tokyo, and currently in New York City. So people have told me that I've got the whole "multi-cultural", diversity, wordly perspective thing going on. Back to the essay topic, my name is a pretty odd name. I've only ever met one other person with the same first name as me. I've had to suffer through countless embarrassing situation as school assemblies, first days at schools, camps and much much more because people can rarely pronounce or spell my name. So, I thought of writing about it and tying in how my name reflects the multi-faceted person I am (culture-wise), since frankly, my name is a union of sorts of a lot of different cultures. Essentially: my name as a microcosm for my life.

If it helps, I'm looking at Brown, Bowdoin, UPenn, Amherst, JHU and other such schools

I've always had high grades in English and have a great teacher who can help, so writing shouldn't be an issue

Thanks so much!
