So my GPA is really good (well maybe not by CC standards), 3.8 unweighted and 4.67/5.3 weighted...I just finished my jr year, and I have gotten 1 B over the course of all 3 years (in case you're wondering it's physics).....

My SAT scores are AWFUL though. 2060 superscore, 740M 650CR 670W, and 670 on math II and 700 on chem...

Obviously one would think that someone with my GPA would get much better SAT scores...which clearly I don't have. For MANY schools I have researched, my gpa is well into or above their range while my SAT scores are below...I don't know what to make of this. What kind of schools can I get into with these mixed stats? I'd like to go premed.

retake the SAT this october. You have summer to prep.

I think you’re fine. A lot of people have to realize that any school worth its mettle realizes that standardized tests are not the entire representation of a student and some kids are just not good test-takers. That said, while I don’t think your score will hurt you, it’s also probably not going to help you get a leg up on other candidates for top universities.

If you consider the fact that the average score for someone in the top 10th of their HS class is 580, 602, 575 CR, M, W and for those with an A+ average it is 604, 620, 599 a score of 2060 is in fact very good you will be competitive for almost any school you want to go to. <a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools;

No, you are not in big trouble. There are good many schools that will be happy to have you and some (like Bates and Bowdoin) are SAT optional. The question is, what kind of schools were you hoping to attend? Look at the Common Data Set for each school (you can google it) and see where you fall relative to the admitted class.

your gpa matches sat’s roughly…

Your SATs aren’t HORRIBLE. When I saw this I was thinking like <1800.
My SATs are about the same and my guidance counselor told me I don’t NEED to retake them (aiming for Ivies and he knows this) but I probably will retake anyway.

I would not use the phrase “good GPA, bad SAT!” to describe you and would not see a need to take the test again.

ditto res ipsa - there is nothing wrong with those SAT scores.

You need to take a chill pill, doll.

Your scores are fine.

Your stats are a match for some very good schools like Hamilton, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lehigh, and BC. The Ivies will be reaches but they are for everyone. Someone on my street got into Cornell as an engineering major last year with your very stats.
