Good lord, Rice

How can they expect me to have my financial documents with the amounts converted to DOLLARS on the same date as the application submission (Jan 1st)? I didn’t even get the link to my portal until Jan 2nd, and now my application is already less competitive. It’ll take a good three days for me to be able to get the international applicant supporting documents to them.

Perhaps I should have done more non-academics-related research on Rice… but jeez, the other 18 unis I’m applying to are far more relaxed about this stuff.

My main question here is: Do most applicants submit all of those documents on Jan 1st? Am I in a minority?

Rice strongly encourages applicants to submit well before the January 1 app deadline for precisely this reason. Sorry you are encountering problems though!

When did you submit your application? If it was a week before the deadline, this really isn’t their fault. Since you’re international, you had to have known that there would be extra hoops to jump through. If it was 2 months before the deadline then sure, blame the university.
