Good luck to those heading to Oberlin this weekend for early review auditions/interviews.

We sent our son out a day early to avoid a winter storm heading our way. I feel a little bit guilty sending him out on his own but he was quite confident that he could handle this process himself. I said that I would just be bored if I came along. Luckily he has flown on his own a few times, has visited Oberlin before, and has a good friend who is a freshman at the college. My role is now limited to checking the flight status online and hoping he can make his connecting flight in Chicago. 30 minutes to go from concourse B to concourse C including waiting on a gate checked bag. Should be doable, right? :)

Well, his flight came in late to Chicago. It was going to be very tight for the connection and he went to the gate and changed his connection to Cleveland to a later flight. I didn’t even know about it until after he handled it. I guess he is ready for this stuff after all.

Good luck to your son. It is wonderful to send them off on their own. But Musictechdad - I doubt you would have been bored! These audition weekends are pretty jammed packed - and often there are meetings for parents re financial aid and other such info. And they’re fun! See if you can tag along to at least one this winter. Or, maybe, fingers crossed, that won’t be necessary, as I know Oberlin is his first choice!

SpiritManager,
I mistyped that. He was the one who said that I would be bored. I am never bored But I took it as a sign that he really wanted to do this himself. He is also applying to Bard, Indiana, and MSM. Maybe I will get to go on one of those (assuming pre-screenings go well).

Does anyone know when results are coming out? Their website says that they would notify of admission, deferral, or rejection by December 15th. I’m getting so anxious!!

I always thought that acceptances were sent out before rejections/waitlist, so that if one hadn’t heard yet and others had it was probably not good news. Interesting to read from POTO Mom that Oberlin does it the other way around.
