As everyone heads off to R-day, I will be thinking of you, and look forward to hearing the feedback from parents. Hopefully some of the candidates will update us after A-Day or when when they have access to their computers :)

Ann - thanks for your kind wishes. For my daughter, it has been a two year journey to get to this spot. Needless to say, we are all anxious to get started, finally!
Thank you for your excellent information, knowledge and wisdom - it has been very helpful along the way.
We drive up Sunday - hope to see some other New Cadets and families in Highland Falls on Sunday afternoon! Weather forcast right now is upper 70's and scattered t-storms - of course, subject to change!

JAMof4:
Thank you.
Upper 70's sounds great! Thunderstorms seem to have been the norm for the past 2 weeks up at WP, and 2 years ago we stood in the rain for the oath ceremony. Rain ponchos are a good investment for parents :)

My congratulations and gratitude to the incoming Class of 2012 and their families.

According to this year's R-Day info on the USMA website, the Oath Ceremony at Trophy Point is scheduled for 5:40pm. In the event of inclement weather, the Oath Ceremony will take place in Eisenhower Hall Theater. Parents will receive two tickets per cadet candidate at the Parents Information Center in the morning.

For a great photo op, immediately after the oath is taken go to the end of the bleachers nearest the baseball diamond (opposite end from the Supes quarters) and climb up on the very end. The new cadets will march on the walkway through the "canyon" formed by the bleachers and the wall on their way to Washington Hall. I have a great picture of both my guys. They knew I would be there and made eye contact. One of my younger son's friends actually gave me a huge grin and a wink. Good luck to all!

ROFL!! When I read about them getting back w/ their plebe after the oath ceremony I thought "how difficult for both kid and parent." What we face on Monday won't be easy; but it I think it would be far worse to have to face them after they've had a day from heck...my opinion, anyway.

aspen - thanks for the info on the tickets. I had been looking for that. Do you (or anyone else) know what one does to get more than 2 tickets per cadet specifically for A-Day or if that is an issue at all? We have other folks who want to come.

I am leaving for the airport in 1 hour. I'd like to give a big thank you to everyone on this forum, y'all have helped me so much, from the explaining the SLS process to clarifying the packing list. I shall try to update ASAP after Beast. Go Army!
