I just got this message from a mom in waiting today.

The Coast Guard licensing exams are today. Each midshipman rings the bell on campus once they've heard that they have passed. It will be broadcast over the internet beginning at 13:35.

Go to EVENTS under Quick Links on left hand side of homepage....

the scores will not be released until at least 1400 according to the coasties. the exams have been going on all week, starting on tuesday. they sat for 2 exams each day, with their final one thismorning.

CONGRATS EVERYONE!!!
from what i hear, only 3 engineers have to retake
i don't know about deckies though. either way, congradulations to everyone!!!

I paricularly enjoyed the use of the baseball bat.

I loved the use of cell phones to bring loved ones close to the excitement.

truthfully today was one of the best experiences i have ever seen. if that doesn't make you want to go to school here and get through then nothing else will. i don't think you can feel any better than they did today

3 engine guys failed no more then 2 parts of the 7. They have to retake those 1 or 2 parts.

Something like 78% of deckies passed, which is actually the highest it has been in a while. I think normally it is around 65% or lower...

If you fail 3 or more of the 7 you must retake all 7, I know of at least 4 deckies in my company that are retaking one...

Friday afternoon, my husband was 25 ft in the air on a ladder, painting his dad's house, when the phone call came from our son. No paint was spilt, and no bodies fell. The news was good, our son had passed. What a thrill, a relief and a drain all at once. Four years of classes, sailing, struggling, studying had paid off. What's even sweeter, our son is home for a few days of crashing. He's been out water skiing, tubing, and enjoying the relaxing feeling before heading back to KP to sail some races. We are holding real life at bay for a few weeks....:) MountaineerMom

Mountaineer Mom I have read your message several times and it never ceases to make me feel totally awed at the great accomplishment these kids achieve. Congratulations to you and your family!

I don't suppose there is a recording of the ringing broadcast available anywhere online? I have only seen a few pictures and would love to see more!!

i took pictures of almost everyone ringing the bell, but they were on a seniors camera. i'll try and get the pictures from him and post them for everyone to see when he gets back

That would be great! Thanks

i've got about 100 pics from it, i'll find a way to post a link...

on the serviceacademyforums.com web site there is a place to post photos for all the academy functions. Maybe try there.
