Good Luck!

Good luck to all of you! I know you are all lovely applicants who qualify greatly for Yale. Those who are ED, how are you feeling right now as the time is inching closer and closer? Did any of you manage to get interviewed or have a tour of the school? If so, how was it?

Thanks! It’s definitely a stressful time.
I’m trying not to think about it. (Getting on CC isn’t helping, but you know… I can’t help it haha)

I did manage to get an interview, but I haven’t yet toured the school. Are you going to apply to Yale RD?

No,I don’t apply until 2013. LOL, but I’m going to tour Yale, Columbia, Barnard, and some others during the summer. How did your interview go?

It went really well. It’s more conversational than anything.

I’m surprisingly relaxed, although I am generally good at staying calm about things that are out of my hands.

I was not offered an interview. I did, however, tour Yale a while back, and my memories of it are vague (I visited many other schools as well) but positive.

I am surprisingly calm as well. I guess it’s just because 1) I know that I need a miracle for my computer screen to turn blue and 2) I’ve developed genuine respect for every single college that I applied/will be applying.

Yeah, i’m pretty calm too. When I log on to my computer on the 15th, I don’t think i’ll be so calm though…I had my interview last Monday, and toured the school this past July. It was amazing.

I’m also calm right now, but I’m pretty sure I will be a nervous wreck on the 15th.

I don’t think Yale offers ED.

^Yes, Yale has no ED program. I think the OP was referring to SCEA.
I actually feel pretty calm right now. Working on applications to other schools has helped me focus on other things.
I toured and did both an on-campus and alumni interview. I sat in on a class when I visited, and the class was incredible.

I am just not focused on anything right now, so I guess that’s some sort of calm…but really not.

And I thought my interview was great/amazing.

And the tour is still fresh in my mind…basically Yale felt right, you know what I mean? Before I toured I wasn’t even going to apply (I mean 7% is a bit discouraging), but after I visited I knew it trumped Columbia, Penn, Harvard (which I visited last), and even Princeton.
(I rubbed the Woosley statue’s foot for luck)

I’m trying to stay relaxed while waiting for word on Dec. 15. I did have an interview and I though it went fine. Found it more like a conversation or information session than an interview. Last summer I had a tour at Yale. Although I still can’t make up my mind that Yale is my top choice, I did find its fairly quiet atmosphere, Gothic architecture, and green surroundings my favorite setting out of the four colleges that I visited (HYP & MIT).

You guys give me real hope and all of you are so very positive! I really cant wait until the 15th to see everyone’s success. I can’t visit every school I want to attend at the moment, but just by looking at the Yale website and the pictures and reading all about it, it just fits me.

I know what that “feels right” feeling feels like. It’s hard to explain, but when you are where you are supposed to be you feel so connected.

^Yeah, I know, right?

Really when I first came to New Haven I was like, “Yeah, I live in a preppy/rich town but this is just crazy, I hate all of these kids here [visiting]” But after the info sess/tour I was so happy and fulfilled…I just didn’t feel that love at Harvard or Princeton (Penn came close, but Philly was a pretty daunting city).

Now a rejection is going to be even more painful.

I had an interview. Not gonna get me in, not gonna keep me out.

I didn’t have “that feeling” at any school I visited. I don’t have a first choice. I liked Yale a good deal. I have NO IDEA how I’ll make the decision in the Spring. I’m a really, really, really indecisive person.

@heyfellas

Oh, so you come from a rich preppy type area and you didn’t think new haven would be anything? I’m middle class…average suburb (in this recession i think now its considered rich lol) but I love all classes of people and class really doesnt matter to me. I like intellectual and friendly people and no matter their financial situation. I think Yale has more of that family feel. Harvard is really snooty. I’m sure you won’t get rejected. What’s your stats?

@quomodo
Follow your heart and if you can see yourself living their 4 years and fulfilling your dream and impact on the world, then go for it.

I only have “that feeling” for the schools that accept me and offer me enough FA.

In this case, there’s no point crying over unrequited love, and there’s no point marrying the one that doesn’t offer a big bride price (the golden rule of marriage in ancient times).

"I am just not focused on anything right now, so I guess that’s some sort of calm…but really not.

(I rubbed the Woosley statue’s foot for luck)"

Drunk people pee on that, just so you know :p. My host advised me not to touch it anywhere.

Good luck 2015! :)

Thanks!!!

Yeah, but my heart’s sort of being rather silent on the matter, is the issue…
I’ll just see where I get in. :)

It is sort of (read: really, really, exceedingly, excruciatingly) annoying when people keep asking me for my first choice. I don’t have one. I don’t have one. Isn’t that possible?
