Good med School in Michigan

I am wondering what are a few (good) medical schools in Michigan?

MSU Osteopathic is highly regarded even in comparison to allopathic schools.

I believe the only other schools are UMich and MSU college of Human medicine (that's not the exact name but close).

Realize that there are only 125 Allopathic medical schools nationwide (ones that grant an MD at graduation) and 19 Osteopathic (give a DO at graduation). So it's not like undergrad in which there are thousands of options.

I heard that it is a party school... Do you argee? I am not looking for a party school.

Are you looking at colleges or medical schools?

I don't know much about MSU, but a social life is an important consideration when being pre-med. It helps keep you sane and medical admissions committees are looking for well rounded people. Medical school doesn't lend itself to a complete social life like you can have in undergrad.

I am currently attending a community college in Michigan called Delta (2yr. College). I feel that by switching after next summer semester is the best route. Now where?? Still undecided. Not only am I looking for a college that best fits my needs also my 5 mth. old son. ( That's why I was concerned with party schools.) If you don't mind me asking where did you do your schooling at? Did you stay at the same college? If not then where did you tranfer from?

Other than UofMichigan and MSU, Wayne State's the only other allopathic medical school in Michigan.

Both of you, thank you. It was very useful information. Now I know where I can come to get my questions answered.

another medical school is opening in Michigan by 2010.

It's Oakland

If you do not get accepted into the University of Michigan, a great college to look forward to is Wayne State University. They have an excellent medical program called MedStart. You can go visit the website at Honors - Welcome MedStart accepts only 15 students, yet is a wonderful program. Qualifications: Must have 3.5 GPA, should have around an ACT score of 25, letter of recommedation from teacher/councelor/ etc, and letter of recommendation from somewhere else (my recommendation...healthcare) You MUST have healthcare somewhere in your resume for medical schools to take you seriously. Also, you need to write a one page paper about why you are interested in medicine. VISIT THE SITE FOR COMPLETE INFORMATION.
