Good News from Ohio - Son is in at UChicago

Congrats from another NE OH mom with a son at U of C. Tremendous place!

:D :::::O-HAPPY DAY!!:::: :D

Congrats. We are still waiting for word in TX. Nerves all around. D's essay was awesome, as well, so you have given us more hope. Anyone know when FA is sent out?

^ Son got his UChi acceptance today, we are south of Houston. Okay, WAAAY south of Houston. Maybe yours will come tomorrow. There was no FA inside.

3 cheers?

Isn't one cheers enough ?

sniff sniff

Sending you a bottle of Cyber Sav, ohio-mom. Those bubblies are long gone by now!

Ohiomom, texastaximom, Congratulations on Chicago! I love the way this board is going to be even more diversified next year when all you "veterans" will be giving advice.

I am readying my "The Doctor is in, 5 cents" poster as we speak. ;)

Although pitching in for a full time bartender and a nice lounge might suit us all better!

texastaximom!!

HUGE congrats to your son for his acceptance to UChicago!!!!! That is so fabulous~hey, now we can drink YOUR cyber champagne too!!! Awesome news! ~berurah

Chicago is a cool school. I love it. So congrats to your son.

Will be waiting by mailbox with baited breath today. Congrats! We are very near H airport, so you would think our mail would get here faster...We have hope, because in applying for FA, sent tax returns unsigned. Received e-mail to fax signed ones IMMEDIATELY to FA committee. We don't think they would be considering us for FA is D weren't accepted. But, there is still that doubt until the letter comes in.

crossing fingers good luck today evitajr!

We should all be hungover after last night, eh Berurah? We better rest up for more good news on the boards today!

Crossing fingers for everyone still waiting by the postbox! We had a wonderful time looking at the housing lit last night.

evitajr1 -
the FA e-mail is a very good sign - most people don't try to make extra work for themselves. Which prompt did your D use?

ohio_mom, texastaximom, chocoholic, congratulations.

Congratulations

Great news, great school....my daughter is in there too.

Mail came and went - NOTHING! I guess our PO can't handle those big, fat envelopes! LOL. My D's prompt was create your own - If Walls Could Talk, which wall would you talk to and what would it answer? She wrote about the Berlin Wall, Brandy (Brandenberg Gate) and Charlie (Checkpint Charlie), their relationship, about the changes in the grafitti on the western side, the young man who thought he was a donut (Kennedy) and the old man who told their boss to "tear down this wall", their fears when people climbed up and sledgehammered them. And how things were now fine, since the shard found a place on the shelf of a Polish German girl in TX with her grandfather, who escaped over the Wall. It was at times poignant, funny and serious.

Oh so sorry, evita. :( I was hoping that pokey 'dillo would get his act together and trundle that large envelope up to your mailbox. He must have fallen asleep in a patch of bluebonnets.

Your d's essay sounds very creative!

Evita -
sounds like a wonderful essay - hope that Saturday brings good news!

Eureka! Yesterday, I waylaid our mail carrier, and she called saying there was nothing there after she returned. But this am she called and said she would meet me at the start of her route, and it is here! And it is a LARGE envelope! Yahoo! Woke up D and we will celebrate. Am making her her favorite breakfast before she goes off to academic competition. Now, for the FA...

CONGRATULATIONS

Evitajar, Too funny...you ambush the mail carrier, and you have a hotline to the post-office!!

Nothing like a mother bear!
