Good or bad efc?

I am a Texas resident that plans on attending Texas Tech Spring 2019. My EFC is 000533. Is that good or bad? And will I be able to get enough aid to afford school?

EFCs are not good or bad, they just are what they are. Yours is very low, so you will get almost a full Pell grant (about $6000) and schools can award additional funds based on that EFC

And if you complete the FAFSA, you will also be able to take a $5500 Direct Loan in your name.

No one knows if you’ll get enough aid to go to college. Most schools don’t have a lot of aid to give, no matter what your EFC is.

What is your home state?

What are your stats?

Where are you applying?

Where do you have money to pay for college?? And where is that money?

You won’t get anywhere near enough money in need based aid from CU or CSU. Have you considered Wyoming? Wyoming gives merit aid, but it has a very low costs to begin with. It’s only 45 minutes from CSU.

The cost for CU Boulder is about $54,000 per year. You say you have the money to pay for this? For aid, you would get about about $5500 in Pell Grant (that’s for the year…so,for one semester it would be 1/2 of that), and $5500 Direct Loan for freshman year.

So…you would still need about $44,000 per year to attend CU. Do you really have that amount of money in the bank…times 3 or 4?

I am now planning on attending the University of Arkansas for the Spring 2019 semester and I qualify for a New Arkansan Scholarship which covers 80% of the extra money it costs to attend a college out of state but your state has to border Arkansas and Texas does so I’m going to school there.
But I’m still applying to Texas State, Texas Tech, and University of Arkansas. I live in Tomball, TX.

So how will you cover the instate tuition rate, plus the 20% OOS portion, and room, board and books???

Sounds like you’d need at least 25k per year, wouldn’t you?

What do you want to study?

I’m interested in studying business and the school will cost $18,143.94 with my student discount and that’s with housing included. I would still need to buy books myself. That’s a full years cost with housing included. That’s from the schools tuition calculator.
