"My best wishes to you whatever the outcome of the Yale application. I know you will do well in your life!"??? I gave him a thanks letter after interviewing. He replied me like this. Is that a good sign or bad sign??

It's a standard pleasantry.

yeah don't read too much into it, he's just wishing you good luck in your future endeavors, whether you get into Yale or not

defer in SCEA
Interview in Feb sounds important to me......I am an international student...

One of my interviewers said this-

"By all means I had a fantastic time. At times I wondered who was being interviewed. Give my regards to ****. [one of my teachers]

Good Luck."

Not sure exactly where that stands...

Yeah I got "I'm sure no matter where you go, you'll do very well".

It's like saying ' no matter where you go, you'll do very well'. Non committal praise, ftw.

The interviewers don't have a large impact on admissions, and their predictions aren't reliable either. Don't try to read too much into any of this.

My Harvard interviewer said that no matter where I go I'd be "stimulated from all angles."

The phrase "That's what she said" jumped into my mind and I started giggling uncontrollably. It wasn't awkward at all.

I really don't think that means anything either way. It's something that is very typically said by interviewers.

ahhh! goldenratiophi! that is ridiculous. can you imagine if you actually said, "that's what she said" ?!?! omg that is really funny.

If I were a Harvard interviewer, and someone had the stones to crack a "That's what SHE said!" joke, I would give them the best report possible.

I've said a similar phrase myself to several applicants. The fact is I want to wish them well (as our conversations are generally very pleasant), but I know that I don't know the student's overall likelihood of getting admitted -- statistically, the odds are stacked against most everyone.

I do wish them well but don't want to needlessly get their hopes up.

Thank you nfro all....

My interviewer said I didn't fit Yale.

He then asked me what other schools I applied to and ripped every other one of those schools.

Don't worry about it. xD

Wow. What a horse's rear your interviewer was...

Sorry, but it's a polite way to say that the interview is not impressive.

I disagree w/Junker's negative assessment. Like I've said, I've used similar words --even with great interviews

One King, that sucks... I'm sorry!

My interviewer said that "on my end, I think you'd be a gret fit for Yale and they would benefit from having you." But again, I don't know if this is something of a formality or legit. We spoke for about an hour in his living room (only slightly awkward).
